Suomalaisen demoskenen historia yltää 1980-luvun puoliväliin saakka. Kotitietokoneiden kultakaudella syntynyt harrastuskulttuuri on säilynyt elinvoimaisena tähän päivään saakka, ja 2020 se tunnustettiin aineettomaksi kulttuuriperinnöksi ensimmäisenä digitaalisen kulttuurin muotona. Tässä esityksessä käydään läpi suomiskenen historiaa pelipiraateista 2000-luvulle esimerkkien kautta.

The history of the Finnish demoscene starts from the mid-1980s. The hobbyist culture that emerged together with the homecomputer boom has stayed active ever since, and in 2020 it was recognized as intangible cultural heritage as the first kind of digital culture ever. This presentation covers the history of the Finnish scene starting from early game pirates to the 2000s with illustrative examples.
