"Joutomaa" is a VJ performance about the unused or abandoned spaces in cities where nature grows spontaneously. Often translated as "wastelands", these spaces are important for biodiversity and escape categorization. They can be spaces to explore, play and creating something new. The piece is an imaginary 3D joutomaa/wasteland created with Unreal Engine 5. The performance moves inside the 3D landscape, exploring the overgrown paths and dead ends, but also finding something unexpected. The performance has been created with the support of Grafia.
